JUNTO
A passion for people and progress inspired this podcast! Junto (pronounced with the “J” sound) is a play off of the spanish word which means “together” and at Junto, we truly believe that life is better when we do it together. Our topics of conversation vary but are centered around real life situations that are part of our human experience, typically filtered through the lens of faith. Our goal is to leave you more encouraged and inspired than you were before you hit play. Episode 59: Suicide, Addiction, & Recovery
Tuesday Sep 26, 2023
Tuesday Sep 26, 2023
I have the privilege of working both in ministry, and higher education and a theme that arises, without fail, is that of mental health, depression, anxiety, along with the question of how can I get relief from this pandemic of the mind and soul.
Ironically, much of the conversation is centered around the pandemic that is to blame for a large increase in depression and anxiety, or at the least, is responsible for bringing the conversation of mental health to the forefront.
September, being National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and National Recovery Month allows us to continue the conversation on the importance of maintaining a positive heart and head space while encouraging others to know that they are not alone in this fight.

Episode 56: CrossFit + Mind & Body. CrossFit Conversations with Dickie Logan
Tuesday Jul 11, 2023
Tuesday Jul 11, 2023
🚨 I’ll preface this conversation by stating I’m in no way a fitness expert but am certainly an advocate for living an active lifestyle. I am also a believer in practicing a wholistic approach when it comes to self care. In my view, the mind, body, and spirit are all connected and caring for each of these components is crucial when it comes to cultivating a healthy lifestyle. I am drawn to CrossFit because for me, this truly encompasses the best of all 3.
In this episode I sit down with Dickie Logan, CrossFit coach and affiliate owner of CrossFit870.

As we become further removed from the revolution that changed everything, it’s important to look back on the document that would become the blueprint for a free and prosperous nation. It wasn’t perfect then and it’s not perfect now, but there is no question that America is the outcome of God Inspired ideas brought to fruition by faithful men.

Episode 54: Discussion on Men’s Mental Health with Jeff Sides
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
So June, to my surprise, is Men’s mental health month and if you are a guy, this is probably a surprise to you as well. I won’t go off on a tangent of how there are far less important months celebrated than the mental health of men, but at least we can help contribute to the discussion and hopefully provide some information, encouragement, and ideas.
For episode 54 I asked my good friend and member of our church’s praise team, Jeff Sides, to sit down to discuss the importance of mental health, specifically for men. Like myself, I know that Jeff has struggled in the past with anxiety and depression and wanted to provide not only guys, but whoever happens to listen, with an honest conversation about men and how we can begin to change the Dialoge around men’s current state of mind.
I hope you are blessed by this! Please comment your thoughts below and visit us at:

Episode 52: A College Perspective on Tech, Social Media, & Success
Tuesday May 02, 2023
Tuesday May 02, 2023
Encouraged. Hopeful. Proud. Inspired. These are just a few words that I would use to describe the young adults featured on this episode and more importantly, I sincerely believe that their thoughts and views could be reflective of a great number of our young adults and college aged students.
As a side project in the class that I teach at ASU Mid-South, a small number of students participated in a conversation on technology and the impact of social media. I had no expectation of what I thought they would say and only asked that they share openly and honestly. I was surprised to find that many of their perspectives and views aligned so closely with my own, as a, let’s just say, somewhat older dude. :)
I believe that this is a great, engaging conversation for anyone, however, I encourage those who may not engage with younger people on a routine basis to give this a listen or watch. I am confident that by the end, you will feel just as encouraged, hopeful, proud, & inspired as I was.

WHY JUNTO?
Junto, pronounced with a "J" sound is a play off the word "together" in Spanish which is spelled the same way, but pronounced with an "H" sound. My experience in ministry as a pastor, and my time working in a college setting as a student coordinator and professor have inspired this podcast as means of encouragement through the simplicity of conversation.
My adult career has been spent, in one form or another, in engaging with people and if there is anything I have learned, it's that life is better, when we do it together. The Junto Podcast was created with this idea in mind to empower and motivate people through means of leadership, faith, and having a community mindset. While topics may vary from episode to episode, the conversations will always come back to our main ideals of how can I apply this topic to enable me to become a better leader and how can I inspire others to engage in this open and honest dialogue. I hope that you find these episodes enlightening, entertaining, and honest and that they inspire you to join the conversation. Life is truly better, when we do it together.
